Jim O'Heir Biography

Jim O’Heir is best known for his role as prime time television’s most loveable loser, ‘Jerry Gergich,’ on the critically acclaimed NBC comedy series, "Parks & Recreation," which aired for 7 seasons and garnered multiple award wins and nominations. Last year, O’Heir received a Daytime Emmy Award for Best Guest Performer in a Drama Series for his role in the hugely popular soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful."

Up next, O’Heir will co-star Jeff Bridges, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, and Chris Hemsworth in Fox’s mystery thriller, Bad Times at The El Royale. In the film, seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at Lake Tahoe’s El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past. Over the course of one fateful night, everyone will have a last shot at redemption, before everything goes to hell. The film is set to release on October 5th.

Currently, O’Heir can be seen as the host of ScaryMommy.com’s "Lullaby League," a web-based game show series where a capella groups compete to sing screaming babies to sleep. Lullaby League’s premiere episode debuted on Pop TV in April with the rest of the episodes available on ScaryMommy.com. Scary Mommy is one of the world’s largest digital content producers and focuses on content aimed toward moms and young adults.

In 2016, O’Heir launched a successful crowd funding campaign for the independent film, Middle Man, a dark thriller with a hint of comedy starring O’Heir as a hapless comic who becomes tangled in a killing spree while on a road trip to Vegas. The film also stars Josh McDermitt (The Walking Dead), Andrew J. West (The Walking Dead), and Anne Dudek (Corporate). After blowing festival crowds away and winning the 2016 Seattle International Film Festival, Middle Man released to theatres in six major cities on June 9th: Seattle, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Boston and Chicago.

Hailing from Chicago, Illinois, O’Heir has graced the small screen on a regular basis for the last 20 years. His credits include; "9-1-1," "Another Period," "Veep," "Hot in Cleveland," "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia," "Boston Legal," "The Mentalist," "Vegas," "ER," "Friends," "The Drew Carey Show," "Ally McBeal," "Diagnosis Murder," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "Malcolm in the Middle," "Star Trek Voyager," "Just Shoot Me" and countless other critically acclaimed shows. Recently recurring on "Bless This Mess" and "Liza on Demand."

On the silver screen, O’Heir can be seen alongside Steve Carell and Keira Knightley in Focus Features’ 2012 sci-fi drama, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World and Adam Driver, Channing Tatum and Daniel Craig in the Steve Soderbergh directed comedy/drama, Logan Lucky. Most recently When Jeff Tried To Save The World, Heavens to Betsy 2, Smothered By Mothers and Violet.

As for life off-screen, O’Heir stays busy with a potpourri mix of activities including; boating, international travel, poker and seizing as many opportunities as possible to cross paths with old Hollywood greats. He is also a self-proclaimed pet lover and supports various organizations that work to protect the well-being of animals. Jim resides in the Los Angeles area.

Jim O'Heir Reviews

  • Fastly, Inc. - Jul 20 2021

  • Northeastern University - Resident Student Association - Oct 25 2017

  • The event was absolutely fantastic. We had just about 300 students in attendance, which I was happy with given a host of other events happening the same night around campus. Jim was such a pleasure to work with and was extremely down-to-earth and easygoing. He ended up taking photos/videos after the Q&A with anyone that wanted to--which ended up being at least half of those in attendance. Overall, I'd choose to have him speak again in a heartbeat!
