Jason Brown Biography
Jason Brown is an American figure skater recognized for his artistry, athleticism, and stage presence in the world of competitive figure skating. At age 19, Brown earned a bronze medal in the team event at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, becoming one of the youngest male Olympic medalists in U.S. figure skating. His performance at the U.S. National Championships secured his place on the U.S. Olympic Team as the first teenage male figure skater to do so since 1976. Brown is known for blending technical skill with musical interpretation, appealing to both dedicated skating fans and broader audiences.
Brown's international profile rose significantly with his "Riverdance" free skate at the U.S. Championships, choreographed by Rohene Ward. The program, which fused Irish dance rhythms and energetic choreography, became a viral sensation and is regarded as one of the most notable programs in U.S. skating history. Brown later competed at a second Olympic Games, finishing sixth in the men's singles event with a career-best free skate.
Throughout his career, Brown has achieved significant results, including two Four Continents medals, nine Grand Prix medals, 13 Challenger Series medals, and a U.S. national championship title. He has earned more than 22 international Senior medals for Team USA and six medals at the U.S. Championships. Brown demonstrated resilience by returning from a concussion to win medals at Skate America and the CS Golden Spin of Zagreb. He has also contributed to team events, serving as captain for Team USA's gold medal victory at the World Team Trophy.
Outside of competition, Brown is active in humanitarian efforts. He has served as a global ambassador for Ronald McDonald House Charities, donating stuffed animals received at competitions and visiting children and families in homes across the U.S., Japan, and South Korea. Brown is proficient in Japanese, reflecting his connection to international skating communities.
Brown is recognized for his balletic skating style and consistent performance at the highest levels of the sport. As a two-time U.S. champion at the junior and senior levels, Olympic team medalist, and world championships competitor, he is known for his commitment to resilience, purpose, and the impact of performance in figure skating.
