Shugar is best known as the Founder of The Tie Bar, the largest and most recognizable brand of men's neckwear and accessories sold online. Shugar grew The Tie Bar from the basement of his home into a $20 million business before a private-equity firm acquired the brand in 2013.
In 2015, Shugar co-founded Thread Experiment, the world’s 1st ever brand of home bedding dedicated to men. The company experienced immediate growth since its launch in the early summer, effectively creating a new category in home decor that never previously existed.
Shugar is also an active angel investor in start-ups, a mentor to young entrepreneurs, regularly speaks on topics related to entrepreneurship and taught an Entrepreneurship Bootcamp course at Florida Atlantic University.
Prior to his more recent entrepreneurial activities, Shugar was a practicing attorney in Chicago for eight miserable years, and he won't mind telling you that.
