Danny Casper Biography
Danny Casper was born and raised in Briarcliff Manor, New York and starting curling at the age of 11 at Ardsley Curling Club (Ardsley-On-Hudson, NY). After his father, Jeff, got him into the sport, he was tutored by former U.S. national champion Bill Stopera, who lived in the area and also coached Casper’s future national team teammate at the same curling club, his son, Andrew.
Casper would skip the U.S. team at the 2023 FISU World University Games in Lake Placid where the team would win a silver medal. It was the U.S.'s second medal all-time at the Winter World University Games in men’s curling, joining a gold medal won in 2007, by a team with John Shuster as the skip.
Following the World University Games medal, Casper’s team would finish with two second-place finishes at the national championships (2023, 2025) and on the professional circuit with two Grand Slam of Curling Tier 2 wins in their first three professional seasons.
Casper missed a portion of the 2024-2025 curling season after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Some of the effects of the disease have caused Casper to struggle at times to walk and use his hands. His teammates assist him with cleaning his rock on the ice if he is having trouble with his hands during the curling competition.
Casper graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in strategic communications. He stayed in Minnesota after college, working as a business development consultant and training at the USA Curling National Training Center in Chaska.
