Chuck Garcia is a best-selling author, executive coach, and leadership expert with a career that spans Wall Street and international mountaineering. Garcia is a 25-year veteran of Wall Street, having held senior leadership roles at Bloomberg, BlackRock Solutions, and Citadel. He spent 14 years in sales and marketing at Bloomberg in various leadership positions, served as director of business development at BlackRock Solutions, and was a managing director at Citadel, an alternative investment management firm. Drawing on these corporate experiences, Garcia transitioned into coaching and education, focusing on leadership development, executive presence, and communication skills.
Garcia is the founder of Climb Leadership International, where he coaches executives worldwide on public speaking, emotional intelligence, and executive presence. His clients include major financial institutions such as Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, and Bloomberg, and he has delivered keynotes in more than 20 countries. Garcia also teaches at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Engineering, coaching executives on public speaking and emotional intelligence. He has contributed to the leadership sections of Forbes, Fast Company, and several trade journals. His seminar at the Wharton Alumni Club received the highest speaker ratings at the club.
Garcia is the author of two books: "A Climb to the Top," which offers a step-by-step guide to becoming a compelling communicator and has been translated into Chinese, and "The Moment That Defines Your Life," which connects Stoic philosophy with emotional intelligence to help readers strengthen self-awareness and lead with empathy.
Outside the corporate and academic worlds, Garcia is an avid mountaineer, having summited Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, the Matterhorn, and peaks in Alaska and the Andes. He uses his mountaineering experiences as a metaphor for leadership and personal growth. A pivotal moment in his life occurred on September 11, when he was listed as unaccounted for and presumed dead after being scheduled to give a speech at the World Trade Center. This experience became a catalyst for his focus on leadership and resilience.
