Caroline Ramade Biography
Caroline Ramade is an entrepreneur and a leading voice on gender diversity in the technology sector in Europe. She began her career in political journalism and communication, becoming increasingly involved in technology as digital media and platforms became integral to those industries. Her interest in gender equality grew as she observed the challenges women faced in becoming leaders, both in communication and in the tech sector, which, despite its modern image, had limited diversity.
Before founding 50inTech, Ramade built experience in innovation and the public sector. She served as managing director of WILLA, an incubator for female founders in Europe, and as deputy head of the digital department at City Hall of Paris. At WILLA, she supported 500 women-led startups and witnessed the barriers women in technology encounter. These experiences reinforced her belief that meaningful change in tech diversity requires action.
Ramade launched 50inTech, a gender diversity tech recruiting platform in Europe, to create a network for women in the digital world and connect them with companies committed to achieving parity in technology. 50inTech has developed into a professional community focused on improving the role of women in tech, offering networking opportunities, training, practical tools, and support for companies addressing diversity challenges and recruitment of talented women. A key innovation of the platform is GenderScore, a scoring system for gender diversity in the workforce that allows HR managers to assess their companies against industry benchmarks. The company has raised a $1.6 million seed round from several investors.
Ramade's leadership has been recognized across the European tech ecosystem. 50inTech was selected for Station F's Founders Program and named to the Future 40 cohort. She has been recognized as a LinkedIn Top Voice and serves as a board member of the French Committee of UN Women. Her partnership with VivaTech includes co-organizing the Female Founder Challenge, which connects women-led startups with venture capitalists and funding opportunities.
Ramade uses data and a long-term vision to challenge the technology industry to move beyond rhetoric. She has highlighted that the unadjusted pay gap in Europe stands at 19 percent, largely because women are not advancing up the career ladder, resulting in significant financial disparities over the course of a career.
