Alyssa London Biography
Alyssa Yáx̱ Ádi Yádi London is an enrolled tribal member of the Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska. She is also a shareholder of Sealaska Regional Corp and Shee Atika Village Corporation. A former Miss Alaska USA, London is CEO of Culture Story, a media and education company that facilitates conversations about identity and showcases authentic Native and Indigenous communities. She is also the producer, creator and host of the "Culture Stories" series.
London grew up in Seattle, traveling often to Southeast Alaska to visit family. After graduating from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity, she began competing in pageants; meanwhile, she worked in the technology industry in marketing and sales roles, most notably at Microsoft. She also served as an elected youth board member of Sealaska Corporation. In 2017, London became Miss Alaska USA and made it to the top 10 finals for Miss USA -- the first Alaska Native to ever place at this level. During this period, she was appointed to serve as the cultural ambassador for Sealaska Heritage Institute, traveling throughout Alaska and Indian Country in the lower 48 states and Canada. Public speaking became a passion, one which she continues to practice, using her voice to bring people together by helping others understand the beauty of other cultures not only in Alaska, but also around the world.
London is also an MSNBC and NBC News contributor, an award-winning Native American Journalists Association member, and guest host for the podcast "Native America Calling." Additionally, she authored the children’s book, "Journey of the Freckled Indian: A Tlingit Culture Story."
