Tracy Young Biography
Tracy Young is a technology entrepreneur and construction industry leader known as the co-founder and CEO of PlanGrid, a construction productivity software company. Young began her career as a construction engineer after studying construction management at Sacramento State University. During her time as a construction project engineer, she identified inefficiencies in the industry, particularly in the management of project information using paper blueprints. This experience led her to seek ways to improve how construction professionals access and update project data.
Young co-founded PlanGrid with Ralph Gootee, Antoine Hersen, Kenny Stone, and Ryan Sutton-Gee. The company's software platform enables construction companies and contractors to access digital blueprints on tablets or smartphones, with real-time updates that reduce paper waste and errors. PlanGrid secured more than $62 million in funding from investors such as Sequoia, Founders Fund, 500 Startups, and Tenaya Capital. The company participated in Y Combinator and expanded from five co-founders to 450 employees, supporting over one million construction projects worldwide before being acquired by Autodesk for $875 million.
Young has been recognized by Forbes' Top 50 Women in Tech, named a Top 50 SaaS CEO by the SaaS Report, included in Fast Company's Most Creative People in Business list, and received the Technology Entrepreneurship Abie Award from Anita B organization. She has spoken at TEDWomen, Techonomy, Salesforce's Dreamforce, and SaaStr, and served as a visiting partner at Y Combinator.
After the acquisition of PlanGrid, Young co-founded TigerEye, an AI business analyst platform for finance, sales, marketing, and customer success teams, and raised $30 million from firms including Initialized Capital and Next47. Young's career spans construction engineering, software development, and artificial intelligence, establishing her as a prominent voice in entrepreneurship, innovation, and construction technology.
