Todd H. Corbin Biography
Todd H. Corbin is a professional speaker, author, certified coach, and mindfulness teacher specializing in mental performance and mindfulness for athletes. Corbin’s early experiences with adversity, including being mislabeled as learning disabled in first grade, influenced his focus on helping athletes and students build self-confidence, resilience, and effective stress management skills. His personal challenges with performance anxiety and self-esteem inform his coaching philosophy, which emphasizes mindful awareness and neuroscience-based strategies to enhance focus and athletic performance.
Corbin has practiced and taught mindfulness since 1993, integrating research in neuroscience and optimal performance into his work. He has received formal training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), MBSR-Teens, Positive Neuroplasticity Training, and Interpersonal Neurobiology, and is a trained mPEAK instructor through UC San Diego. Corbin also received personal meditation training from Deepak Chopra and Neale Donald Walsch, leading to the development of a mindfulness-based curriculum for children and teens, which he taught at the Chopra Center for Well-Being in Carlsbad, California.
With more than two decades in higher education sales and custom publishing for major educational publishers such as Pearson, Houghton Mifflin, and Cengage Learning, Corbin gained extensive experience working with educators and understanding effective learning strategies for students and adults. He also served as an instructor at Lakeland Community College in Ohio for more than 12 years, teaching courses in stress management, peak performance, communication skills, mindfulness, and meditation.
Corbin is co-author, with Gina Biegel, of the book "Mindfulness For Student Athletes: A Workbook to Help Teens Reduce Stress and Enhance Performance," published by New Harbinger Publications. He is also the creator of the "Mindful Sports Performance" activity card deck. These resources are widely used by coaches, educators, sports psychologists, and parents to support student-athletes’ mental health and performance.
Corbin has worked with Division I and Division III college sports teams, including Kent State, Cleveland State, Case Western, Oberlin, WashU, and Yale University, as well as student-athletes and coaches across the United States and internationally. He contributed to the Yale University men’s and women’s squash teams, both of which achieved top-three finishes at the national collegiate squash championships, and served as a mindset, mental performance, and mindfulness coach at MSquash High Performance Facilities in New York and Connecticut. His flagship online program, designed for coaches, educators, parents, and professionals supporting student-athletes, has reached participants in more than 17 countries.
