"Science Bob" Pflugfelder Biography
Bob Pflugfelder, known as "Science Bob," is a science teacher, author, maker, and television personality recognized for his work in science education and communication. Pflugfelder began his career as an elementary school science teacher and also served as an on-set tutor for child actors, including the cast of "Malcolm in the Middle," "Everybody Loves Raymond," and Steven Spielberg's "A.I. Artificial Intelligence." This combination of classroom and entertainment industry experience has shaped his approach to science outreach.
Pflugfelder has appeared on numerous U.S. and international television programs, where he demonstrates scientific concepts and experiments, ranging from simple home projects to complex contraptions. In addition to his television work, Pflugfelder co-authored the "Nick & Tesla" series of science-adventure books for young readers. The series follows the adventures of two twelve-year-old siblings who solve mysteries by building gadgets, with each book providing instructions for constructing the devices featured in the stories. Titles include "Nick and Tesla's High-Voltage Danger Lab," "Nick and Tesla's Robot Army Rampage," and "Nick and Tesla's Secret Agent Gadget Battle." The "Nick & Tesla" series has inspired many elementary and middle school students to engage with science and hands-on learning.
Pflugfelder has collaborated with former NASA engineer Mark Rober to create science-focused videos on YouTube and Netflix while working with CrunchLabs. He also presents at events such as the USA Science & Engineering Festival, the World Science Festival, The White House Science Fair, and Maker Faire events in the U.S., Rome, and Singapore.
