Sara Snow Biography
Sara Snow has been called 'first generation organic' and it's easy to see why. She grew up surrounded by organic gardens, compost heaps and a family with an infectious passion for green living. Her father, Tim Redmond, co-founded some of the heaviest hitters in the world of organics: Eden Foods, American Soy Products and Blue Horizon Organic Seafood, all from a second floor apartment in Ann Arbor, MI.
While other young girls were experimenting with hair color and the latest fashions, Sara was weeding her organic vegetable garden and working on her compost pile. She graduated from Butler University in 1998 with degrees in theater performance and telecommunications.
Seven years into a career as an Emmy Award-winning television producer and news anchor, Sara created the concept for a lifestyle television series about the things she learned growing up - eating organic, composting, recycling, natural cleaning and more. In 2006, Living Fresh launched on the Discovery Network and Sara was credited with helping create the first ever TV series about natural living.
In the summer of 2006, Sara began working on her second series, Get Fresh with Sara Snow, an updated version of Living Fresh. On this program, Sara travels the country in search of products and services that make green living more accessible to the everyday person. The show launched in January 2007 on Discovery Health and helped establish Sara as one of today's most notable green living experts.
In 2008, Sara joined the advisory board of Discovery Network's Planet Green, the first ever 24-hour green television network. She is regularly featured in magazines and newspapers as well as on CNN.com LIVE and Treehugger.com. She recently released a DVD titled Growing Green Babies and authored the book Sara Snow’s Fresh Living; The Essential Room-by-Room Guide to a Greener, Healthier Family and Home.
While Sara continues development work on her next series, she travels the country speaking to individual and corporate groups about simple and effective ways to green businesses, homes and communities and to live in harmony with the environment.
