Having grown up sailing small boats, Peter Isler understands the many facets of this internationally respected sport. A renowned educator, he has taught sailing to people of all ages and experiences, including the U.S. Olympic team. Additionally, Peter Isler played an important role in developing the U.S. Yacht Racing Union's sailing program and helped found the American Sailing Association.
Peter Isler has been involved in every America's Cup since winning it as navigator aboard Dennis Conner's Stars & Stripes in 1987. Peter Isler served as analyst for ESPN's coverage of the America's Cup in 1992 and 1995. In the 2002-2003 Auckland Cup Campaign, Peter both sailed with Stars & Stripes and served as analyst for Outdoor Life Network's coverage of the racing. He navigated Roy Disney's sloop, Pyewacket, in the 2003 Los Angeles-to-Honolulu Transpacific Yacht Race, and then went on to break the monohull record in the 2003 Newport-to-Ensenada race by nearly an hour. During the summer of 2004, Peter Isler navigated Martin Brauns' sloop, Winnetou, to a first-place overall finish in the Pacific Cup race from San Francisco to Hawaii.
