Melissa Gilbert is an Emmy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated actress, producer, director, entrepreneur, and New York Times bestselling author best known for her role as Laura Ingalls on “Little House on the Prairie.”
A lifelong storyteller and advocate, Gilbert served two terms as president of the Screen Actors Guild, ran for Congress in Michigan’s 8th district, and has been a voice for artists and working families through her service on the AFL-CIO executive council and the California Film Commission.
As an entrepreneur, Gilbert launched the lifestyle brand Modern Prairie, which includes women’s clothing, accessories, home decor, kitchenware, garden tools, quilting kits, and many other products suited for the modern woman on the prairie.
She has starred in over 50 films and numerous theater productions. She has written four bestselling books, including her deeply personal memoir “Prairie Tale.” Gilbert is also a mother, stepmother, and grandmother to seven.
