Marcus Scribner Biography
Marcus Scribner is an American actor and voice actor recognized for his work in television, film, and animation. Scribner began his career as a series regular on ABC's comedy "Black-ish," portraying Andre Johnson Jr. from the show's premiere episode. The sitcom, created by Kenya Barris, explored the dynamics of a multi-generational African-American family and addressed evolving perspectives on race. Scribner worked alongside Anthony Anderson and Laurence Fishburne, contributing to a series that received critical acclaim and honors, including a Peabody Award.
Throughout the eight-season run of "Black-ish," Scribner received nominations for Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics Choice, NAACP Image, and Screen Actors Guild Awards as part of the ensemble cast. He earned two individual NAACP Image Awards for his performance and was recognized with the Backstage Vanguard Award for his impact on the community. Following "Black-ish," Scribner joined the Freeform spinoff "Grown-ish" as the lead character and series narrator.
Scribner's career extends beyond television into film and voice acting. He appeared in the environmental thriller "How to Blow Up a Pipeline" with Ariela Barer, Forrest Goodluck, and Lukas Gage. His voiceover credits include "Dragons: The Nine Realms," "Ron's Gone Wrong," "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power," "Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh," and Pixar's "The Good Dinosaur." Scribner also became the youngest host of the NATAS PSW Emmy Awards.
Scribner was cast as a series regular on CBS's "Boston Blue," a spinoff of "Blue Bloods," joining an ensemble that includes Donnie Wahlberg, Sonequa Martin-Green, Ernie Hudson, Maggie Lawson, and Gloria Reuben. He plays Jonah Silver, the youngest member of a law enforcement family. Off-screen, Scribner founded Scribner Productions, a company focused on adapting fantasy and science fiction novels to highlight young Black voices, contributing to the entertainment industry as both an actor and producer.
