Lovern J. Gordon Biography
Lovern J. Gordon is the author of DV awareness memoir, The Legacy He Left Me and President of Love Life Now Foundation, Inc. (LLN), which promotes year-round awareness against domestic violence (DV) and helps to bridge the gap between shelters and the communities they serve. The 2010 winner of two back-to-back beauty pageants, Gordon started out by using the titles as a platform to increase awareness on the issue. The following year LLN was formed. Since then, she has spread awareness in various Massachusetts cities by hosting DV awareness events year-round events that have in turn raised thousands of dollars to benefit DV shelters.
She also shares her personal story surrounding abuse (as a 15-year child witness in the Caribbean and adult survivor of a 2-year relationship in the United States) with various audiences, via keynote talks and DV workshops. Believing the more we all talk about this issue publicly, the better a victim’s chance is of seeking help, she conducts these educational Workshops at high schools, college campuses, for companies, law enforcement, HR personnel, etc. Her reach continues to span nationwide and internationally with appearances on numerous mediums, such as: TELEVISION programs: CBS This Morning, Huffington Post Live, Security Brief TV, NBC’s This is New England, WHDH’s Urban Update, ABC‘s Cityline.
