Laura Washington Biography

Laura Washington is the older daughter of a Baptist minister, now deceased. As a child she always had a passion for reading and learning and sharing what she learned with others. She was on the high school debate team and was the editor of her high school yearbook. Ms. Washington resided in Houston, Texas for 40 years. Her artistic accomplishments during that time were the completion of 50 poems, 50+ newspaper columns and stories, presented motivational workshops and seminars, singing/storytelling events for children, writing plays, and lyrics for songs.

Ms. Washington received a Texas Real Estate Brokers’ License in 1978, actively practiced Real estate as a Broker for 25 years, and owned/managed a Brokerage/Property Management Company for 10 years.

Laura is a 2002 diploma graduate of Light Bible Institute, Houston, TX, with additional studies in theology taken at College of Biblical Studies, Houston, TX. in 1993.

After arriving in Lake Charles, LA. in 2005, Ms. Washington wrote a Christmas and Easter drama. Ms. Washington was a contributing writer of Motivational/Inspirational articles for Gumbeaux Magazine in Lake Charles, LA. for four and a half years and has been a contributing writer of Motivational/Inspirational articles for Christian Star Newspaper, and also was a grant writer for Habitat for Humanity for one and a half years.

Ms. Washington has also been guest speaker at several women’s conferences in Lake Charles and the surrounding area. Ms. Washington has appeared as a guest on KELB radio in Lake Charles numerous times in 2012 and 2013, and has appeared as an Internet radio guest on radio stations in San Antonio, TX, Huntsville, TX, Alexandria, LA, and Lafayette, LA.

Ms. Washington recently relocated back to Houston, TX and most recently appeared as a guest on an Internet radio show in Houston, TX. Ms. Washington is a member of Toastmasters International, District 56 in Houston and was elected Vice President-Public Relations in July, 2013. Ms. Washington is also a member of Speakers Publishers Authors Association where she was granted a Professional Speakers Certification in April, 2012.
