James Richards Biography

James Richards, the founder and director of CMI Worldwide, Inc., an Internet and E-commerce company, has combined his extensive business expertise with his passion for helping others at CNIB. He holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and graduated from Yale University. Along with his professional pursuits, Richards serves as the executive vice president of business development for a leading nutraceutical research and development firm, and he co-authored "The Chemistry of Success" with Susan Lark. His work focuses on the development of new performance models applicable to success, peak performance, and optimal health.

In addition to his business achievements, Richards has been a dedicated volunteer with CNIB since 1993, where he helps to facilitate an eight-week peer support program called New Horizons, New Dreams. This program aids seniors who have recently experienced vision loss. A former school teacher, Richards employs his experiences with vision loss and his drive to assist others in making the New Horizons, New Dreams program impactful. The program not only offers motivation and resources to seniors but also fosters a sense of companionship and mutual support among participants.

Richards's commitment extends beyond program facilitation. He began his volunteer journey as a friendly visitor and maintains relationships with clients he has assisted. Additionally, he participates in the annual Crocus campaign and golf tournaments in his area. His personal challenges with vision loss, due to Macular Degeneration (Retinoschitis), have not hindered his ability to contribute significantly to the community.
