Ian Hanomansing Biography
Ian Hanomansing brings a wealth of experience to his role as anchor CBC News Network’s primetime coverage. Hanomansing’s on-air credentials include that of reporter and occasional host with The National and the former host of CBC News Vancouver at Six, a one-hour newscast with a mix of local, national and international news. He also hosted "Pacific Prime," CBC’s daily coverage of the Beijing Olympics and "Canada Now," the half-hour national news show.
Hanomansing was born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, and grew up in Sackville, N.B. Hanomansing holds degrees in political science, sociology and law, and is the winner of six national university debating and public speaking championships.
Hanomansing’s extensive and award-winning broadcasting career has taken him around the world to cover the biggest national and international stories including the agreement-in-principle for the creation of Nunavut, the San Diego Heaven’s Gate cult suicides, Vancouver’s 1994 Stanley Cup riots, the Exxon Valdez oil spill, the 1997 hand-over of Hong Kong, and three Olympic games.
