Greg LeMond Biography
Greg LeMond is a former cyclist and two-time Professional World Champion and three-time Tour de France winner (1986, 1989, 1990). He remains the first and only American Tour de France winner.
Well known for his racing success, he is also widely recognized as the most innovative cyclist of all time. He ushered in the modern era of cycling. He was the first cyclist to win the Tour de France on a carbon fiber bike. An inventor of the first hard shell helmet for Giro, the first athlete to use Oakley sunglasses, introducer of the cycling computer, heart rate monitor, clip-less cycling pedals, and data-based training programs. He also brought a business mindset to salaries and sponsorships in pro cycling and changed the sport forever.
Greg continues to be driven by his entrepreneurial spirit in seeking opportunities as the founder of LeMond Bicycles, and LeMond Carbon. LeMond Carbon has exclusive rights to breakthrough manufacturing processes that produce low-cost, high-quality carbon fiber for primarily the automotive and aerospace markets.
