Greg Laurie Biography
Greg Laurie is the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, which operates campuses in California and Hawaii. Laurie began his pastoral ministry at age 19 by leading a Bible study of 30 people, which has grown into one of the largest churches in the United States.
Laurie founded the Harvest Crusades, large-scale evangelistic events that have drawn more than 11.5 million participants in person and online worldwide. He launched Harvest America, a nationwide outreach event using HD livestreaming to thousands of venues across the United States, with over 306,000 attending live—one of the largest gospel presentations in U.S. history. Collectively, these efforts have resulted in over 700,000 documented professions of faith. The Harvest Crusades have expanded internationally, with events held in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Laurie has continued to lead major events, including the annual Harvest Crusade at Angel Stadium, which has drawn capacity crowds of more than 45,000, with additional online viewership and thousands of professions of faith, marking significant responses in the event’s decades-long history.
Laurie partnered with Kingdom Story Company to release his first cinematic crusade, "A Rush of Hope," which was viewed by more than 2 million people during its opening weekend. He is also the subject of the film "Jesus Revolution," which tells the story of his conversion and early ministry during the Jesus Movement.
Laurie has authored more than 70 books, including "Lennon, Dylan, Alice, & Jesus," "Billy Graham: The Man I Knew," "Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon," "Jesus Revolution," "Steve McQueen: The Salvation of an American Icon," "Live Love Fight," "Tell Someone," "The New Believer’s Bible," "Hope for Hurting Hearts," and his autobiography, "Lost Boy." The accompanying documentary film, "Lost Boy: The Next Chapter," won multiple awards at international film festivals. His film "Hope for Hurting Hearts" features his story of trusting God through tragedy, and "Steve McQueen: American Icon" tells the story of the actor’s salvation.
Laurie hosts the nationally syndicated daily radio program "A New Beginning," broadcast on more than 1,200 radio outlets worldwide. He serves on the board of directors for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and is a chaplain for the Newport Beach Police Department. Laurie has served as Honorary Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force and participated in the National Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral following a presidential inauguration. He organized the Year of Good News movement and led Harvest Christian Fellowship to join the Southern Baptist Convention, expanding its evangelistic reach.
