Greg Brandeau Biography
Greg Brandeau is a technology executive with extensive experience in Silicon Valley, having held senior roles at organizations that have significantly influenced the entertainment and technology industries. Brandeau earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in electrical engineering from MIT and received an MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University after serving in the U.S. Air Force.
Brandeau developed his management expertise while working under Steve Jobs at NeXT as director of operations. Following Jobs' recommendation, he joined Pixar as director of systems technology during the production of "A Bug's Life." After five years and a promotion to vice president, Brandeau expanded his experience in other technology sectors before returning to Pixar as senior vice president. In this role, he led the transition to digital tools used by Pixar artists in film production.
Following Pixar's acquisition by Disney, Brandeau became executive vice president and chief technology officer of Disney Studios. He was responsible for developing and implementing technology strategies that supported film, music, and theatrical operations. Brandeau oversaw the technological advancements behind several high-grossing animated films, including "Toy Story," "Finding Nemo," "WALL-E," and "Brave," contributing to Pixar's reputation for innovation in animation and visual effects.
Brandeau's observations on organizational creativity and leadership are detailed in his book, "Collective Genius: The Art and Practice of Leading Innovation," co-authored with Linda Hill, Emily Truelove, and Kent Lineback. Published by Harvard Business Review Press, the book has been recognized by Thinkers50 and Business Insider for its insights on management and innovation.
Brandeau is a founding partner of Paradox Strategies, a leadership consulting firm advising organizations on building cultures that support sustained innovation.
