Emma Young Biography
Emma Young is an award-winning science, health journalist and author of "Super Senses: The Science of Your 32 Senses and How to Use Them." A staff writer at the British Psychological Society, she previously worked at The Guardian, The Sydney Morning Herald, and New Scientist magazine. Her work has appeared in numerous media outlets, including The Atlantic.
Young’s journalism awards include Feature of the Year, awarded by the UK Medical Journalist’s Association; Australian Health Journalist of the Year; Writer of the Year at the Australian magazine industry Bell Awards; and a European Online Journalism award for best news story. Young has given talks on her work to a variety of groups in Europe and the US. She was an invited speaker at the 2023 Aspen Ideas: Health event, where she spoke about our "27 other senses."
Young is also the author of two YA novels, "Here Lie the Secrets" and "She, Myself and I," as well as the adult nonfiction book "Sane," the "Storm" series of thrillers for children, and four children's non-fiction books. "A Really Short Journey Through the Body," her e-book adaptation of Bill Bryson’s "The Body," was listed among the Guardian’s Best Children’s Books of 2023.
