Ed Helms Biography

Ed Helms has had a diverse career within the comedy genre, both on television and in film. He began as a correspondent on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" from 2002 to 2006 before landing a prominent role as Andy Bernard in the popular NBC sitcom "The Office" from 2006 to 2013. His film career includes notable roles in The Hangover trilogy, the comedy series "Rutherford Falls," and numerous other films such as Cedar Rapids, Jeff Who Lives at Home, We're the Millers, and Vacation, among others. Helms has been recognized for his work with six Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Writing for a Comedy or Variety Special for The Fake News with Ted Nelms.

Helms has also made significant contributions to the world of music and activism. He is part of a bluegrass band, The Lonesome Trio, and co-founded a music blog named The Bluegrass Situation. Beyond his entertainment career, Helms serves on the board of RepresentUs, a non-profit organization dedicated to passing anti-corruption laws in the United States. His dedication to education is evident through his commencement speeches at institutions such as Cornell University and the University of Virginia, as well as an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Knox College.

As a multifaceted artist, Helms has also shown his capabilities behind the camera. In 2013, he launched his own production company, Pacific Electric Picture Company, and has co-written, produced, and starred in the Yahoo! Screen web series Tiny Commando. In 2019, he also provided narration for the Disneynature feature film Penguins.
