Desmond Napoles Biography
Desmond Napoles, known by the stage name Desmond is Amazing, began their career as a child drag performer, gaining recognition at the 2015 NYC Pride March. Their unique creativity led to the organization of Haus of Amazing in 2017, the first club for child drag performers. Napoles has had the most substantial online presence among American "drag kids." However, their influence goes beyond the digital sphere; in 2018, they walked for Gypsy Sport at New York Fashion Week.
In addition to their performance and fashion endeavors, Napoles is an accomplished author. Their children's picture book, "Be Amazing: A History of Pride," was published in 2020, providing a kid-friendly exploration of LGBTQ+ history. They also made a significant impact in the virtual world as a host on Richie Rich's makeup metaverse, BTYKWN. Despite retiring their drag persona in 2023, Desmond continued their advocacy work, serving on the advisory board of the Born This Way Foundation and participating in the Teen Activist Program at the New York Civil Liberties Union.
Desmond successfully launched a fashion brand, Be Amazing NYC, in 2021, further solidifying their position as an LGBTQ+ influencer. Various high-profile media outlets, including The New York Times, NBC News, Teen Vogue, and OUT Magazine, have recognized their work and influence. Although the brand closed in December 2023, Desmond remains active in the fashion industry, expressing intentions to attend fashion school.
