David Perlmutter Biography
Dr. David Perlmutter is a board-certified neurologist specializing in neuroscience, nutrition, and preventive medicine. Perlmutter is a six-time New York Times bestselling author whose work examines the relationship between diet and brain health. He serves on the Board of Directors and is a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition, and is the Director of Neuroscience Research at Bryan Therapeutics. Perlmutter is a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease and has published research in peer-reviewed journals including Archives of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and The Journal of Applied Nutrition.
Perlmutter's books, published in 32 languages, include the New York Times bestseller "Grain Brain: The Surprising Truth About Wheat, Carbs and Sugar," which has more than 1 million copies in print. Other titles include "Brain Maker," "The Grain Brain Cookbook," "The Grain Brain Whole Life Plan," "Drop Acid," and "Brain Wash," co-written with Austin Perlmutter, M.D. He is also the editor of "The Microbiome and the Brain." His book "Brain Defenders" explores the role of microglia, the brain's immune cells, in protecting and repairing the brain.
