Cory Thiesse Biography
Cory Thiesse, a curler hailing from Duluth, Minnesota, has an array of accolades to her name. She currently plays as third on Team Tabitha Peterson, and is a three-time U.S. women's champion, securing titles in 2021, 2023, and 2024. Thiesse's prowess was evident early on, as she was one of the top junior women's curlers in the United States, playing in six national junior championships and winning four. Additionally, she was part of the 2018 United States Olympic team. In 2023, with partner Korey Dropkin, Thiesse became a world mixed doubles champion and later, at the 2026 Olympics, they became the first American team to win a medal in Olympic mixed doubles curling.
Thiesse's curling journey began with multiple victories at Junior National Championships between 2013 and 2016. She was selected as the skip of the junior women's team in the USCA High Performance Program and earned a silver medal at the World Junior Championship. Over the years, Thiesse has represented the United States in numerous tournaments, including the 2018 Winter Olympics, 2017 World Women's Championship, and the Curling World Cup in Jönköping, Sweden. She also played a key role in the victories of various teams, such as Jamie Sinclair's curling team in the 2019-2020 season, Team Christensen in the 2021 United States Women's Curling Championship, and Team Peterson in the 2023 United States Women's Curling Championship.
Thiesse's contribution to curling extends to mixed doubles as well. With partner John Shuster, she won the 2019 United States Mixed Doubles Curling National Championship and a bronze medal at the 2019 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. Their team was named USA Curling's 2019 Team of the Year. Later, alongside Korey Dropkin, she won the 2023 United States Mixed Doubles Curling Championship and the 2023 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. This victory marked the first time the United States won the title. Thiesse's accomplishments have been recognized with awards such as the 2011 Women's Curtis Cup for Sportsmanship and being named USA Curling’s 2016 Female Athlete of the Year. Currently, she works as a lab technician.
