Benjamin Bratt Biography
Benjamin Bratt is an accomplished actor with a vast array of roles under his belt. His international recognition was largely gained from his role as Detective Reynaldo Curtis on the NBC drama series "Law & Order" from 1995 to 1999, for which he received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. His performances in notable films such as "Miss Congeniality," "Traffic," "Catwoman," and "Snitch" have further solidified his position in the industry. He has also showcased his talents in the television series "Private Practice," "24: Live Another Day," "Star," and "Andor."
Aside from his acting roles, Bratt has made a name for himself in other areas of the film industry. He was not only a star but also a producer for the film "La Mission." He also served as a consulting producer for the critically acclaimed film "Dolores" and co-executive produced the documentary "Wings of Dust" in 2023, which focuses on water contamination in Espinar, Peru. His experience extends to voice acting as well, with roles in the "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" film franchise, "Despicable Me 2," and the Academy Award-winning "Coco."
Bratt's dedication to his craft has earned him numerous awards and nominations. He won the American Latino Media Arts Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series in 1998 and for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture for "Piñero" in 2002. He has also received the Rita Moreno Award for Excellence from the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors in 2002. His voice acting in "Despicable Me 2" and "Coco" has been recognized, with "Coco" winning Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song at the Academy Awards. In 2025, he received an Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Millers in Marriage." Bratt's ongoing involvement in the American Indian Movement and various related causes shows his commitment to making a difference beyond his acting career.
