Ben Bergeron Biography
Ben Bergeron is a coach and author known for his influence in the CrossFit and athletic performance industries. Bergeron has coached athletics for more than three decades, including coaching CrossFit Games athletes. A former Ironman triathlete and CrossFit Games competitor, Bergeron has coached athletes to six world championships. He founded CrossFit New England, where he works with individuals seeking to improve fitness, health, and overall well-being.
Bergeron spent 15 years coaching elite athletes for the CrossFit Games, with 253 total athlete appearances at the Games, including 10 champions. Notable athletes coached by Bergeron include Mat Fraser and Katrín Davíðsdóttir. He began coaching Fraser after Fraser finished second at the Games, following the retirement of four-time winner Rich Froning. Under Bergeron's guidance, Fraser became a dominant champion. Bergeron has served as coach to seven different CrossFit Games champions across Individual Male and Female, Masters Male and Female, and Team categories. His coaching philosophy extends beyond physical training, emphasizing mental methodologies such as being hungry, humble, and happy.
Bergeron’s approach to coaching is detailed in his book, "Chasing Excellence," which explores the process of achieving high performance and has been recognized by athletes in Major League Baseball and the U.S. Olympic Bobsled Team. He programs for competitive athletes through CompTrain and CompTrain Masters and shares best practices for gym owners and coaches through seminars and events.
Outside of coaching, Bergeron is a public speaker on performance, mindset, and holistic health. He delivered a TEDx talk titled "Your Mind is a Weapon" at TEDxSantaBarbara. Bergeron also co-hosts the "Chasing Excellence" podcast with Patrick Cummings, discussing daily practices that support lasting well-being.
