Bärí A. Williams is an attorney and startup advisor, currently serving in advisory roles at Vera and as the fractional GC for Career Karma. She is the co-founder of The Runda Lab, and she was the former Head of Business Operations Management for North America at StubHub. Williams' primary practice areas include emerging technology transactions, privacy and data protection, IP licensing, and terms of service. In addition to being an advisor, she was a former COO of Bandwagon Fan Club. Inc., a data and identity analytics tech company focused on the sports and entertainment space, and a diversity, inclusion, and corporate social responsibility consultant.
Prior to her current roles, Williams was VP of Legal, Business, and Policy Affairs at All Turtles, an AI startup studio. Before her time at All Turtles, she served as Lead Counsel at Facebook, supporting Connectivity Labs in their endeavors to build drones, lasers, and satellites. During her time at Facebook, she also successfully created and implemented Facebook’s Supplier Diversity Program which launched in October 2016. Aside from her established career in the tech industry, she has provided guidance to startups in the enterprise and e-commerce space, and has given congressional testimony on bias in AI in financial services in February 2020.
Williams is a published author with several bylines in renowned publications such as the New York Times, WIRED, Fortune, and Fast Company. Her book, "Diversity in the Workplace: Eye-Opening Interviews to Jumpstart Conversations About Identity, Privilege, and Bias," was released on March 31, 2020. Her second book, "Seen Yet Unseen," details her experiences as a Black woman from Oakland working in the tech industry in the Valley. Her educational credentials include degrees from the University of California, Berkeley (BA, Mass Communications), St. Mary's College of California (MBA), the University of California, Los Angeles (MA, African-American Studies), and the University of California, Hastings College of Law (JD).
