Ashley Park Biography
Ashley Park is an actress, singer, and dancer known for her work across Broadway, television, and film. Park earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theater from the University of Michigan before beginning her professional career. At age 15, she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and was hospitalized for nearly a year before returning to performing.
Park made her Broadway debut as an ensemble member in "Mamma Mia!" and later played Tuptim in the Lincoln Center revival of "The King and I," a production that received a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theater Album. She appeared in "Sunday in the Park with George" and originated the role of Gretchen Wieners in Tina Fey's Broadway musical "Mean Girls," earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, as well as nominations from the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama League awards. Park won the Lucille Lortel Award for Lead Actress in a Musical for her performance in the off-Broadway production "KPOP."
Park expanded her career to television and film, gaining international recognition as Mindy Chen in the Netflix comedy series "Emily in Paris." Her performance, including a rendition of "La Vie en Rose," contributed to the show's popularity. Park received a Critics' Choice nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on "Emily in Paris," becoming the first Asian American actress nominated in that category.
In addition to "Emily in Paris," Park starred in Adele Lim's directorial debut "Joy Ride," appeared in Netflix's "Beef," and joined the cast of Hulu's "Only Murders in the Building" as a Broadway ingenue. She also appeared in the period romantic drama "Mr. Malcolm's List" and the "Mean Girls" film adaptation. Park supports organizations such as Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and the Actors Fund, and has mentored emerging performers through masterclasses and outreach programs. Her experience as a leukemia survivor and Tony-nominated performer positions her as a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
