Alex Gibney Biography
Alex Gibney, an influential figure in American documentary filmmaking, has made significant contributions to the genre over the years. His direction and production skills have been recognized in the form of numerous awards, including the 2007 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for "Taxi to the Dark Side" and three Primetime Emmy Awards in both 2013 and 2015 for "Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God" and "Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief" respectively. Some of his other notable works include "The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley," "We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks," and "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room."
In 2023, Gibney premiered "Boom! Boom! The World vs. Boris Becker," a two-part documentary at the Berlin Film Festival. His recent works also include "Wise Guy: David Chase and the Sopranos," "In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon," and "The Dark Money Game." He is also currently working on a documentary film about entrepreneur Elon Musk, titled "Musk." As the president of Jigsaw Productions, Gibney plays a crucial role in producing independent films, documentaries, and television series.
