Tom Bergeron Biography
Tom Bergeron is a television host known for his extensive career in broadcast media, spanning radio, local television, and national network programming. Bergeron began his Emmy Award-winning career in broadcasting in the early 1970s, progressing from local stations to hosting five national network television shows. He spent more than a decade with WBZ-TV in Boston, hosting a variety of programs before moving to FX as host of "Breakfast Time." Bergeron also served as a fill-in anchor on Good Morning America and later transitioned to host "Hollywood Squares."
Bergeron achieved national recognition as the host of "Hollywood Squares," earning a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host. He later became host of ABC's "America's Funniest Home Videos," guiding the show through significant changes, including the transition from physical tapes to digital uploads and the integration of social media. Bergeron held the record for the longest tenure of any host in the show's history.
Bergeron's role as co-host of the celebrity dance competition "Dancing with the Stars" on ABC further solidified his reputation in reality television. For his work on the series, he received multiple Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program, winning the award once. Bergeron also hosted major television events, including the Primetime Emmy Awards, the Miss America Pageant, the Daytime Emmy Awards, and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation's College Television Awards Gala.
