Theo Von Biography
Theo Von is a stand-up comedian, podcaster, television personality, YouTuber, and actor known for his Southern storytelling and surreal humor. Von first gained public attention at age 19 by appearing on MTV's "Road Rules: Maximum Velocity Tour." Following his time on MTV, he faced challenges in Hollywood, as industry professionals often viewed him primarily as a reality TV personality. Over time, Von established himself in the comedy industry.
Von achieved early recognition by winning the title of "Last Comic Downloaded" on "Last Comic Standing." He expanded his television presence by hosting the TBS hidden camera comedy game show "Deal With It," where he and guest comedians encouraged participants to perform pranks. Von also hosted Yahoo's daily recap show "Primetime In No Time," which averaged more than 1 million views per day. His stand-up career includes multiple Netflix comedy specials, such as "No Offense" and "Regular People," both of which highlight his unique blend of observational and surreal humor. "Regular People" was filmed at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and released globally on Netflix. In 2026, he released the special "I'm Doing Fine."
Since launching the podcast "This Past Weekend," Von has become a prominent figure in the podcasting industry. The show features long-form interviews and discussions with a wide range of guests, including Joaquin Phoenix, Tucker Carlson, Bernie Sanders, and Donald Trump. "This Past Weekend" has achieved significant popularity, ranking among the top podcasts globally and in the United States on Spotify. Von's interviews with political figures and celebrities have garnered millions of views on platforms such as YouTube, further establishing his influence in digital media and comedy podcasting.
In addition to podcasting, Von has appeared in the film "Busboys" alongside David Spade, which they co-wrote and self-financed. He has toured nationally and internationally with stand-up tours including the "Dark Arts Tour" and the "Return of the Rat Tour," performing in theaters and arenas across the United States and abroad. Von is known for his openness about personal struggles, including his long-term sobriety, which informs the honesty and self-awareness present in his stand-up and podcasting work.
Von's contributions to digital media and comedy were recognized by Time magazine, which included him in its inaugural TIME100 Creators list in the "Leaders" category for "This Past Weekend." Von's career reflects the evolving landscape of entertainment, as he has built a dedicated audience through consistent content creation, vulnerability, and a distinctive storytelling style that resonates with listeners and viewers seeking authentic voices in comedy and podcasting.
