The Breeders Biography
The Breeders are an alternative rock band formed in 1989 by Kim Deal of the Pixies and Tanya Donelly of Throwing Muses. Originally conceived as a side project, the band quickly gained traction with their raw sound, melodic sensibility, and feminist edge. Their 1993 breakthrough album Last Splash, featuring the hit single “Cannonball,” became a defining release of the decade, achieving platinum status and securing the group a central spot in the '90s alt-rock movement. Celebrated for their blend of punk energy, pop hooks, and sonic experimentation, their music often explores themes of identity, alienation, and empowerment.
