Seth Shostak Biography
Seth Shostak developed an interest in extraterrestrial life at age 10 after reading a book about the solar system. This early curiosity led to a degree in radio astronomy. As senior astronomer, Shostak participates in the SETI Institute's observing programs, contributing to the search for extraterrestrial intelligence and advancements in astrobiology.
Shostak is active in science communication, focusing on public outreach and engaging young audiences in science and astrobiology. He has co-authored a college textbook on astrobiology and written three trade books on SETI. Shostak has published more than 400 popular science articles, including regular contributions to NBC News MACH. He delivers numerous talks each year and hosts the SETI Institute's weekly science radio show, "Big Picture Science."
