Sara Mora Biography
Known globally on social media as @MissSaraMora, Sara Mora is a migrant rights activist, digital media strategist, and organizer who has used her platform to elevate the voices and stories of immigrant communities. Mora began speaking publicly at a young age, serving as a youth voice in her church and local organizations before emerging as a national advocate while still in high school. At 16, she interviewed then–Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solís about Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), sparking her deeper engagement with diplomacy, migration policy, and the challenges faced by undocumented youth in the United States.
After the Trump administration announced the termination of DACA in 2017, Mora publicly revealed her undocumented status and became a visible advocate for young immigrants and DREAMers. She has organized campaigns, created digital content, and used storytelling to highlight the complexities of the immigrant experience while pushing back against the tokenization and exploitation of migrant narratives. Her activism has included public campaigns challenging media representation, collaborations with advocacy organizations, and efforts to empower immigrant communities to reclaim their own stories.
Mora has also played leadership roles in youth civic engagement. She served as co-president of the youth branch of the Women's March, where she helped oversee more than 200 chapters and mentored young activists across the United States. In addition to participating in legal efforts defending DACA recipients, she has worked with voter engagement initiatives and national youth campaigns, including projects with Yara Shahidi and the youth civic organization Eighteen x 18. Through her activism and digital advocacy, Mora continues to focus on amplifying grassroots immigrant voices and advancing the belief that migrant communities deserve representation in the decisions that shape their lives.
