Pardis Parker Biography
Pardis Parker is a Canadian comedian, writer, actor, director, and filmmaker recognized for his satirical approach across television, film, and literary platforms. Parker is the creator and star of Comedy Central's "Mideast Minute," a satirical news show distributed on Comedy Central's digital platform that critiques U.S. propaganda efforts, particularly those of the Congress-funded Alhurra network, by attempting to persuade Middle Eastern audiences that conditions in the region are favorable. The show has received critical attention from outlets including Jerusalem Post, Uproxx, and Tubefilter.
Parker is also the creator of "Free," a half-hour comedic drama developed at Amazon Prime with Plan B Entertainment, and the co-creator of "Uncivil," a single-camera comedy developed at NBC with Universal Television and Hazy Mills Productions. His work has screened at more than 150 film festivals worldwide and has received over 80 awards and distinctions. Parker has appeared in television and film productions in the United States and Canada. His writing has been published by New Yorker, New York Times, New York Review of Books, Los Angeles Review of Books, Chicago Sun-Times, Weekly Humorist, Lit Hub, and McSweeney's.
As a performer, Parker is a six-time Canadian Comedy Award nominee, a frequent guest on Comedy Central's "@midnight," a contributing correspondent and writer for CBC's "This Hour Has 22 Minutes," and an actor with appearances on shows for ABC, CBS, CBC, Showcase, Family Channel, and Comedy Central. He has performed at TED events three times, twice as a speaker and once as a special guest host. His TED Talks include "I'm Tired of People Telling Me to 'Grind'" and "I'm Terrified of Wanting to be a Billionaire." Parker's humor piece, "I am the NY Times Connections Puzzle and I am the Reason Everyone is Angry," was named Electric Literature's most popular post. His body of work spans political satire, stand-up comedy, short filmmaking, and literary humor, establishing Parker as a versatile comedic voice in the entertainment industry.
