Dream job or dream life? That’s the question Monique Greenwood had to answer for herself. And in answering that question, she realized that having it all isn’t where it’s at—it’s having what matters.

The former editor-in-chief of Essence Magazine and author of Having What Matters , Monique has achieved enormous professional success which she measures not in dollars, but in personal satisfaction and fulfillment.  In her book, Greenwood recounts her own personal experiences and family history, and offers advice on achieving a balanced life with attention to family, love, career and financial freedom.

For three years, Greenwood served as editor-in-chief of Essence Magazine, the nation’s leading publication for African American women. It was the dream job…the one she wanted since she was a young child. But in getting the dream job, she discovered another passion.

She is now the owner of an owner of five acclaimed bed-and-breakfast inns in New York, New Jersey and Washington, DC. Her award winning B&Bs and her successful entrepreneur ventures have garnered her extensive recognition. An inspirational speaker, Monique’s varied experiences provide a fascinating backdrop for actionable advice on how to achieve a balanced life. Her lecture topics include making time for “me,” building community for “the new urban entrepreneur, bursting through boundaries and not being limited by the limited imaginations of others and how to make your dreams come true.
