Matt Ross is an American actor, director, screenwriter, and producer whose career spans acclaimed work in both film and television. He is best known for portraying Alby Grant on HBO's "Big Love" and Gavin Belson on HBO's "Silicon Valley," earning recognition for his memorable performances across drama and comedy. Ross also appeared in notable films including Good Night, and Good Luck, American Psycho, The Aviator, Face/Off, and 12 Monkeys. His role as Eddie Scott in Good Night, and Good Luck contributed to the film's Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
In addition to acting, Ross has built an acclaimed career behind the camera. After making several short films, he wrote and directed "28 Hotel Rooms," which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012. He followed with the critically praised "Captain Fantastic" (2016), starring Viggo Mortensen, for which Ross won the Un Certain Regard Award for Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival. He has since directed television projects including "Silicon Valley," "Gaslit," and "Death by Lightning."
