Martin Atkins Biography
Martin Atkins, a prominent English drummer and session musician, has left an indelible mark on the post-punk and industrial music scenes. Best known for his contributions to iconic groups such as Public Image Ltd. (PiL), Ministry, Pigface, and Killing Joke, Atkins has showcased his talent and versatility throughout his illustrious career.
Beginning with PiL in 1979, Atkins made a notable impact, contributing to albums like "Metal Box" and "Flowers of Romance." Despite a hiatus in the early '80s with his band Brian Brain, Atkins returned to PiL and eventually embarked on a diverse musical journey that included collaborations with Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, and Killing Joke.
Atkins' creativity flourished as he formed industrial supergroups like Pigface and Murder, Inc., while also engaging in solo projects and collaborations. A true pioneer in the music industry, he is the owner of Invisible Records, founder of the Museum of Post Punk and Industrial Music in Chicago, and Coordinator of Music Business at Millikin University. In addition, he is the author of three books on the music business, including "Tour: Smart." He has spoken around the world at major industry conferences, universities and nonprofit organizations, including at SXSW, Warped Tour, New Music Seminar, Unconvention, Virginia Commonwealth University, Full Sail, Chicago Cultural Center and many more.
