Les Miles Biography
Les Miles is a college football coach whose career dates back to 1980. From 2005-2016, he was head coach at LSU, where in 2007, he led the Tigers to a National Championship. The Tigers that season went 12-2 on the year and won an SEC title. As the No. 2 team in the nation, LSU took on No. 1 Ohio State in the BCS National Championship Game and won, 38-24.
Miles in 2011 led LSU to a perfect 13-0 record and another SEC title. For the final two months of the college football season, Miles’ Tigers were the No. 1 team in the country and he again took LSU to the National Championship game, where the Tigers were defeated by Alabama. In the aftermath of the 2011 season, Miles earned a number of accolades, including the Liberty Mutual, Home Depot, Associated Press, Walter Camp and AFCA FBS Coach of the Year awards.
In total, during his tenure at LSU, Miles led the Tigers to winning records and bowl games in all of his seasons except one. Five times under his leadership the Tigers finished the season ranked within the Top 10 teams in the nation. In 2019, Miles became head coach at Kansas. Previously, he was head coach at Oklahoma State (2001-2004) while from 1995-1997 he was the offensive coordinator in Stillwater. Miles has also coached in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys (1998-2000), the University of Michigan (1980-1981, 1987-1994) and Colorado (1982-1986.)
