Kevin Sussman Biography

Kevin Sussman is an actor and comedian known for his portrayals of offbeat characters in television comedy. Sussman trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and studied with acting teacher Uta Hagen. Before acting professionally, Sussman worked at a comic book store, an experience that would later inform one of his most recognized roles.

Sussman gained early attention with a role alongside Adrien Brody in Barry Levinson's drama "Liberty Heights," followed by appearances in Cameron Crowe's "Almost Famous," the comedy "Wet Hot American Summer," and the thriller "Changing Lanes." Before joining the cast of "The Big Bang Theory," Sussman played Walter, Betty's boyfriend, on the ABC comedy "Ugly Betty," and worked with directors including the Coen Brothers, Steven Spielberg, and Ang Lee. He and the cast of "Ugly Betty" received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

After "Ugly Betty," Sussman appeared in the Coen Brothers' "Burn After Reading" before being cast as Stuart on "The Big Bang Theory." His portrayal of Stuart Bloom, the comic book store owner, spanned more than 85 episodes, and he became a series regular starting with the sixth season.

In addition to "The Big Bang Theory," Sussman is known for his work on "Better Call Saul" and "Lessons in Chemistry." He and John Ross Bowie, a co-star and writing partner, developed television scripts together, including the stop-motion animated comedy "Dark Minions" for Amazon Studios. Sussman's enduring association with the character Stuart led to his starring role in the spin-off series "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe" on HBO Max.
