Jo Dee Messina Biography
Jo Dee Messina, a Grammy-nominated American country music artist. She was the first female country artist to score three multiple-week number-one songs from the same album. Her debut album, "Heads Carolina, Tails California," along with two other albums, have been certified gold by the RIAA while two have achieved platinum status.
Messina has been honored by the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music. This includes winning the Country Music Association's Horizon Award in 2000 and the Academy of Country Music Awards' Top New Female Vocalist in 1998. She has also been recognized by Billboard, winning the "Most Played Female at Country Radio" and three major awards from the Boston Music Awards. Her album "Delicious Surprise" peaked at number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.
Messina has also made appearances on television, such as on the fourth season of Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." This exposure, coupled with her role as an author, taking part in the "Chicken Soup" series, shows her versatility and broad reach.
She is an ambassador for the Special Olympics, performing at their events to boost attendance. After undergoing cancer treatment, she resumed touring in March 2018. She recently wrapped her tour, "Heads Carolina, Tails California," in 2024.
