Jim Adler Biography
Jim Adler is the founder and general partner of Toyota Ventures, Toyota's first standalone early-stage venture capital firm. Adler established the firm, which has grown to manage more than $800 million in investment capital, with a focus on investing in innovative startups in frontier technologies and climate solutions. Areas of investment include artificial intelligence, autonomy, mobility, robotics, smart cities, digital health, fintech, energy, materials, and carbon neutrality. Toyota Ventures has invested in more than 100 companies, including air mobility company Joby Aviation.
Adler began his career as a rocket engineer working on avionics systems at Lockheed Martin Space Systems. He later founded VoteHere, a company specializing in cryptographic secure and secret online voting for public elections, where he served as chief executive officer for nine years and raised over $25 million in venture capital. Adler also held the role of vice president of products and marketing at Metanautix, a big data analytics startup acquired by Microsoft. Before founding Toyota Ventures, he joined Toyota Research Institute as vice president of data and business development.
Toyota Ventures invests through the Toyota Ventures Frontier Fund and the Toyota Ventures Climate Fund, supporting startups in AI, autonomy, mobility, robotics, cloud technology, smart cities, digital health, fintech, materials, and scalable solutions for carbon neutrality.
