Jacqueline Goldin Biography
Professor Jacqueline Goldin has a strong academic and also an extensive very practical experience working at the grassroots with very diverse partners. She is dedicated to participatory research and over the past three decades has worked extensively on human well-being, emphasising the connections between humans and their environment to promote planetary health now and for the future.
Goldin’s passion is taking science out of a strict, rigid academic environment and applying it in a very practical way. Her work has focused on water literacy, working with farmers monitoring water in very remote rural wells in South Africa, where the assumption is that the more you know about water the more you are likely to protect and value it. But for her, it’s not just about managing water – it’s about getting to a more just and transformed society.
Goldin uses art to emphasize new ways of learning and communicating science. She is extremely skilled at managing challenging milieus where people have very different ideas, different ways of expressing themselves and different desires. She is a great communicator and an inspirational speaker
