George is most recognized as the attorney who secured the landmark return of Bruce’s Beach – marking the first (and only) time in U.S. history that the government returned property to a Black family. An accomplished lawyer, George also led the rescue of the Ebony and Jet magazines’ photography archive out of bankruptcy, secured reparations for Holocaust survivors and advocated before California’s Supreme Court on behalf of students with disabilities.
