Francesco Da Vinci Biography
Francesco Da Vinci is a Los Angeles-based book author, peace activist, and photojournalist. Previously, for more than 20 years, Da Vinci was a celebrity portrait photographer with Getty Images. In 2021, his image of a child at the March for Our Lives was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Publication of Da Vinci’s work includes The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Time, and LIFE Magazine.
Recently, Da Vinci’s memoir as a peace activist and conscientious objector to war was published by Sunbury Press. The book pays tribute to conscientious objectors to war, past and present. Currently, Da Vinci’s memoir is being adapted as a documentary film.
Da Vinci regularly does podcasts and radio interviews, particularly in his capacity as a peacemaker in our violent culture. He has addressed Ukraine-Russia, the need for a full shift away from our current culture of violence to one of non-violence, and dealing with right-wing extremism and the 'stand your ground' movement that has resulted in deaths over minor annoyances. Instead of being abrasive and polarizing, his talks call for a sense of reconciliation and non-violent action, raising hope for America to come together again.
