Building A Climate to Promote Happy, Healthy, High Achievers
A teacher’s impact on students’ social-emotional skills is far more predictive of success in high school than that of test scores (Jackson, 2018). Clearly, if school leaders wish to optimize student achievement, then they must create supportive learning environments that enable teachers to effectively address the emotional as well as academic needs of students. This workshop addresses the architects of school climate: school leaders. It provides an understanding of how the social environment may promote or undermine the mental health of adolescents, regardless of socioeconomic background. Moreover, leaders will learn a framework with specific strategies for enhancing teaching and learning and thus a healthier climate for teachers as well as students.
Participants will:
Understand school culture and climate and how they influence student performance.
Acquire a research-based framework for leveraging engagement to boost achievement.
Learn specific strategies to make learning enjoyable, engaging, and challenging, and fulfilling.
Don't Let School Get in the Way of Education
Based on Dr. Anane Olatunji’s new book entitled the same, this topic provides a powerful overview of why a new paradigm in education is needed. Many youth underachieve because we focus on making them skillful but not willful. This insightful and engaging presentation leaves audiences with a new sense of clarity and conviction about the need to align education with students—not just standards—so that they will thrive! This workshop aids all educators in their indispensable role as youth advocates by equipping administrators and their staffs with time-proven, simple strategies for empowering youth. Regardless of their particular program design, the 7 Prosperity Principles–Passion, Perspective, People, Purpose, Preparation, Performance, and Persistence–equips educators with the curriculum they truly need to guide youth beyond the obstacles confronting them in school and in life.
Participants will:
Understand the "perspective gap" that exists between youth and adults when it comes to schooling.
Acquire key concepts and ideas needed to make fundamental changes in how we teach.
Recognize and promote the need for emotional fulfillment in education.
Life After School Starts Now
How many times have you encountered students who haven’t the foggiest idea of what they’d like to do with their lives after graduation? They’ve spent so much time focusing on academic subjects throughout their lives that they’ve lost touch with the main subject—themselves! This presentation shows counselors and educators—at the secondary as well as university level—how to help youth avoid this situation by designing their futures before leaving school. As a result of clarifying the "Why?" of their education, they also will become more motivated to pursue the "What" as well as the "How." Consequently, many youth (and their parents) may save not only time but also money as they complete their studies and embark on their careers with a greater sense of purpose and satisfaction.
Participants will:
Gain the understanding needed to help youth apply their education effectively.
Learn the key success principles needed to help youth develop a sense of direction and purpose.
Acquire a time-tested framework for career planning and development.
Strategy Is Better than Strength: How to Reignite Your Energy for Teaching
Did you know that only 11 percent of teachers say their professional development is highly relevant to their students' needs? This is particularly concerning given that teachers rank students as the greatest factor impacting their job morale. (Source: Walton Family Foundation-Gallup Teaching for Tomorrow, 2025.) Consider the implications of this, given that teachers are the major school factor in student performance. This webinar addresses this issue by providing an overview of the FACES framework. Discussed in Dr. Anane Olatunji's bestselling book, "Don't Let School Get in the Way of Education," FACES (Fun, Affirmation, Challenge, Expression & Success) offers a new paradigm and strategy for making the educational process more enjoyable and effective for both educators and students.
Participants will:
Gain insight as to why so many teachers experience burnout.
Learn a new way of thinking about the business of teaching and learning.
Acquire five strategies to improve student performance and thereby teacher retention.
