Keynote Speaker: Military Leadership Expert & CEO at TAIOH Partners; Former Senior Advisor to U.S. Secretary of Defense; Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator

DeDe Halfhill Biography

Colonel DeDe Halfhill, USAF (Ret.), is a military leader, international keynote speaker, and strategic advisor with a 25-year career in the United States Air Force. Halfhill was twice deployed to Iraq, where her leadership experience was shaped by commanding and advising organizations through challenging environments. Her military service highlighted that mission outcomes often depended on leaders' ability to recognize the unseen dynamics within their teams, such as unnoticed struggles or unspoken resistance.

As a senior advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Halfhill contributed to developing solutions for complex military challenges and served as the military's lead spokesperson for the Department of Defense's global communications strategy. She held roles including Director of DoD Press Operations, advisor to the Commanding General of the Multi-National Force–Iraq, national security fellow at Georgetown University Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, deputy director of public affairs for U.S. Pacific Command, commander of the 332nd Force Support Squadron at Joint Base Balad, Department of Defense congressional fellow, senior advisor to the Air Force chief of staff, and chief of public affairs for the Thunderbirds Air Demonstration Squad.

Halfhill is a Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator and an executive coach certified through Georgetown University Executive Leadership Coaching Program. She has taught Women in Leadership in National Security and Foreign Policy at Georgetown University. Halfhill holds a master's degree in leadership from American Military University and a B.A. in communications from the University of Iowa, and is a graduate of Air War College, Air Command and Staff College, Squadron Officer School, and Defense Information School. Her leadership approach has been featured on "60 Minutes," and she has been recognized by Dr. Brené Brown for her perspective on the role of vulnerability and humanness in leadership.

Halfhill is the founder and CEO of TAIOH Partners. As a keynote speaker and leadership expert, she draws on her experience in high-stakes environments to provide organizations with frameworks for building trust, fostering communication, and developing effective teams. Her work focuses on human-centered leadership, organizational culture, and the unseen dynamics that influence team performance.

FORGED

Leadership That Holds When Everything Else Is Shifting

Senior leaders are making high-stakes decisions in a world that does not slow down. AI is changing how work gets done. Customers are changing what they expect. The organization keeps restructuring. They are expected to move faster, keep people steady, and maintain trust and alignment while the ground keeps moving.

Forged is built for that reality.

It gives leaders a practical human skill they can use in the middle of constant change. They learn how to understand what their people are carrying and how it affects decisions, and what they can do about it in clear, concrete steps.

DeDe Halfhill spent twenty-five years in the United States Air Force, including two combat tours in Iraq and command of 1,800 people at the home of the Air Force nuclear enterprise. She also advised the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon during periods of intense uncertainty and rapid change.

For years, she led the way most senior leaders are taught to lead: focus on discipline, strategy, and decisions. Then she discovered the Air Force’s first leadership manual from 1948, written directly out of wartime experience of high loss, rapid advances in technology, and complete uncertainty. It changed everything she believed about leadership. The men who wrote it treated understanding human emotion as an operational requirement of leading and warned that when leaders stop understanding what people are carrying, trust falls, information goes silent, and leaders keep treating symptoms instead of fixing the real problems.

See DeDe in Action If smart leaders, great strategies, and skilled teams drive success, why does progress stall?

Because it’s not the obvious problems that trip you up, it’s the things you don’t see coming.

The quiet hesitation before a big decision. The subtle frustration your team won’t say out loud. The conversation everyone avoids until it’s too late.

Colonel DeDe Halfhill, USAF (Ret.), knows this better than most. For 25 years, she led thousands of people through uncertainty and situations where noticing what went unsaid meant the difference between mission success and failure.

Now DeDe delivers keynotes that don’t just inspire, but equip teams to recognize the unseen factors at play, so they can step confidently into the messy human side of leadership, and turn hidden challenges into a competitive edge.

Each keynote equips your leaders and teams to:

Spot hidden issues before they stall progress. Step confidently into conversations everyone else avoids. Create alignment, build trust, and keep momentum going strong. As a result, they find steadiness amidst the chaos, self-trust when overwhelm threatens to take hold, and the kind of courage that leads to exponential organizational and team growth.

Because the leaders and teams who can see what others miss, win every time.

KEYNOTE #1 FORGED Leadership That Holds When Everything Else Is Shifting Senior leaders are making high-stakes decisions in a world that does not slow down. AI is changing how work gets done. Customers are changing what they expect. The organization keeps restructuring. They are expected to move faster, keep people steady, and maintain trust and alignment while the ground keeps moving.

Forged is built for that reality.

The men who wrote it treated understanding human emotion as an operational requirement of leading and warned that when leaders stop understanding what people are carrying, trust falls, information goes silent, and leaders keep treating symptoms instead of fixing the real problems.

The audience will leave with:

  • A clear understanding of why leading people through this much change has been so hard, and what every leadership playbook left out.
  • A practiced skill for working with what people are carrying during AI shifts, restructures, and changing expectations.
  • A different way of seeing their role that changes what Monday morning looks like and where they start.

This program is perfect for:

  • Senior leaders navigating disruption, uncertainty, AI adoption, and a workforce in transition.
  • Organizations adopting technology faster than their people can adjust, and looking for leaders who can hold the performance and the human cost at the same time.

EVERYDAY COURAGE™

Transforming Small Actions into Big Impact

This is a moment that demands everything from your leaders. You want them speaking honestly, giving the feedback that matters, making decisions without waiting to be told, and bringing ideas forward even when the room feels uncertain. Every organization needs that right now, and most leaders genuinely want to be the person who does it.

The gap between wanting to and actually doing it lives in a specific set of moments that happen every day. The conversation a leader knows they need to have. The risk they are weighing. The opportunity they can feel but have not acted on yet. Most leaders walk past these moments without realizing what they just missed. Every avoided conversation becomes the culture. Every deferred decision becomes the pace.

In this keynote, retired Colonel DeDe Halfhill draws from 25 years of military leadership, including two tours in Iraq, to show that courage is a daily practice available to every leader in every room. Using stories from her own experience leading through situations where avoidance had real and lasting consequences, DeDe shows your audience that the leaders who practice courage in the small, ordinary moments are the ones organizations can count on when the stakes are highest.

The audience will leave with:

  • A redefined understanding of courage as a daily leadership habit that lives in ordinary moments and builds the capacity for the ones that matter most.
  • A practical approach to the moments where they feel the pull to avoid, defer, or wait, and a way to move through them instead.
  • The clarity that stepping up consistently in small moments is what creates the culture your organization is trying to build.

This program is perfect for:

  • Leaders and teams who are ready to speak up more, take more initiative, and bring more of themselves to the work that matters.
  • Organizations that want a culture where leaders face hard moments directly and act on the opportunities in front of them.

CONNECTION IS THE COMPETITIVE EDGE: The Advantage No One Talks About, But Everyone Feels

Your organization just went through something big. A restructuring, a merger, a leadership change, a strategic pivot. The plan is in place. The direction is set. And yet something still feels off. Teams that should be collaborating are operating in silos. Communication is polite but surface-level. People are doing their jobs without doing them together.

What is missing is almost never strategy. The organizations that recover fastest and perform highest after transition are the ones where leaders know how to rebuild trust and connection deliberately, with the same discipline they bring to operations and execution. Where conversations happen instead of getting avoided. Where people say what they actually think in the meeting instead of in the hallway afterward. Most leaders have never been taught how to build that on purpose.

In this keynote, retired Colonel DeDe Halfhill draws from more than 25 years of leading through exactly these moments, including commanding 1,200 people through a year-long combat deployment in Iraq and leading 1,800 people at the home of the Air Force nuclear enterprise. She gives your audience the tools to rebuild collaboration, break down silos, and create the kind of team trust that makes everything else easier.

The audience will leave with:

  • Practical, specific ways to rebuild trust and collaboration after transition, restructuring, or leadership change.
  • A clear understanding of why connection drives performance, innovation, and resilience in ways that strategy alone cannot.
  • Tools to move teams from surface-level cooperation to real partnership.

This program is perfect for:

  • Organizations that have recently been through a transition, restructuring, or significant change and need their teams working together again.
  • Leaders and teams who are looking for stronger communication, deeper collaboration, and the kind of shared commitment that turns good teams into exceptional ones.

LEADING UNAPOLOGETICALLY

Own Your Influence. Lead Without Limits.

Women don’t need more confidence. They need the space to lead on their terms. For decades, women in leadership have navigated an unspoken pressure to lead in a way that fits expectations instead of challenging them. Many have watched their instinct to understand people, to read what a room actually needs, get labeled as soft or dismissed as not the real work. Some have held back because using that capacity visibly carried a cost. The result is the same: women leading with one hand tied behind their back in environments that need everything they have.

In this keynote, DeDe Halfhill shares what she learned leading in one of the world’s most male-dominated environments, the U.S. military. Rising to senior leadership, advising the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and commanding thousands of people taught her that the capacity most likely to get dismissed in those rooms was the same capacity that produced the best results. And she found historical evidence that proves it: the toughest leaders in American history once treated understanding people as an operational discipline, not a soft skill.

What women bring to leadership has always been the point. It’s time for women to stop editing themselves to fit a version of leadership that was never the whole picture.

The audience will leave with:

  • Evidence that the capacity most often dismissed in women leaders was once treated as essential by the toughest leaders in American history.
  • Stories and strategies that inspire bold action, not just reflection.
  • The clarity to stop editing themselves and start leading with everything they have.

This program is perfect for:

  • Women’s leadership events and conferences where the audience is ready for something deeper than the standard confidence and empowerment message.
  • Experienced leaders who are ready to challenge outdated leadership norms.
  • Anyone committed to leading with complete confidence in their impact.
