Dean Winters Biography
Dean Winters is a seasoned actor with a wide variety of roles under his belt. He is perhaps most notably recognized for his portrayal of Ryan O'Reily on the HBO prison drama "Oz." Winters has graced screens in numerous TV series such as "Millennium," "Rescue Me," "30 Rock", "Sex and the City," and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." His versatility is further demonstrated by his portrayal of "Mayhem" in a series of Allstate Insurance commercials as well as his co-starring role in the CBS Network cop drama series "Battle Creek."
Winters' acting prowess has not gone unnoticed. He was nominated for a Gold Derby Award and an Online Film & Television Association Award for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his "30 Rock" role. His credits extend beyond dramatic roles, as he has also had a recurring role as "The Vulture" on the comedy series "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," and guest-starred in an episode of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt." Winters' ability to bring characters to life extends to voice acting, where he provided the voice for Edward in an episode of "American Dad!" and voiced the character Andrew in "Tangled: The Series." Winters continues to contribute to the industry with upcoming roles in the 2023 Netflix film "The Outlaws" and the 2024 AMC series "Monsieur Spade."
Winters has opened up about his struggles with chronic pain from amputations he received after contracting a bacterial infection and later gangrene in 2009, resulting in the amputation of two toes and half of his thumb. As a result, Winters suffers from neuropathy in his hands and feet.
